On Saturday 8th July we took 3 teams of swimmers to the National Combo Cup competition, held this
year in Sheffield. There were over 700 swimmers in total from 37 clubs in attendance. Our 13-18 team were the first to swim with their Thunderbirds routine, coached by Sarah. They did an amazing swim and were just beaten into 4th place by a small margin.
Next to swim were the 12 and Under team, swimming their Muppets routine, coached by Ellen. They were the first to swim in their category and really set the bar for the following teams. They were absolutely thrilled to win bronze medals.
The very final team of the day to swim were the 15-18 team. Their routine had to include 4 acrobatic
moves and they pulled each of them off brilliantly. Sadly they finished just outside of the medals.
Overall, Cheltenham were placed 8th out of 37 clubs, which was the highest placing for a team entering only 3 events.
The very next day, 2 of our coaches (Sarah & Paula) were at the pool again, taking part in the National Masters competition, swimming their combo routine with 7 other swimmers. They came in 7th place, which was a great achievement!
