On July the 5th, 2025, 37 swimmers travelled to Sheffield for the annual Combo Cup competition, which is our biggest event of the year. Approximately 1000 swimmers take part split across 5 different age categories and 2 divisions. Our 15 and Under team competed against another 23 clubs and were very pleased to come 9th as we were hoping for a top 10. This was a tricky category as our swimmers were all young for this age group. They did a great swim of their Chitty Chitty Bang Bang routine, with a super lift at the start and happy faces throughout. The 13-15 Beetlejuice team were the first to swim in the second session. They performed superbly, showcasing the great choreography and custom-made swimsuits. The swimmers were overjoyed to come first, winning CASC’s first gold medals at this competition! The 12 and Under team swam their Despicable Me routine. In this team, all but 1 swimmer were completely new to this competition and this was the largest pool they had ever competed in. They held their nerve and enjoyed their performance, coming a very respectable 5th out of 12 teams. Our 15-18 Spiderman team performed in the last event of the competition, in the Division 2 category. They should be very proud of their hard work and their 8th place, which gave the Club 2 Cup points, contributing to a total Cup score of 16 points, which placed CASC joint 8th overall. This is an excellent achievement to be in the top 10 of all the Clubs in the country!
The very next day, we were back at Ponds Forge for the Masters National Championships with 2 teams – Combination and Technical – and 2 soloists – Sam and Amy. Around 200 athletes attended this event from 26 clubs. We are super proud of our Masters and their achievements in the extremely competitive age groups!
