Medal wins at South West Novice Figure and Routines Competition

On Saturday, 8th June, we took part in our first team competition of the season. A number of swimmers competed in the Figures event as well, which is split by age and Grade held. It was a great event all round with lots of medal winners, some great routines, and for some swimmers, their first taste of competition.

After the Figure competition which saw our swimmers take home 18 medals amongst them, our Masters entry, Sarah S, swam her solo for the first time in a competition. Her mesmerising routine was equally enchanting and uplifting which saw her win a silver medal in the Age 25+ category!

In the team events, we entered two 12 and Under teams – our junior development “Muppets” team, coached by Ellen, who performed amazingly on their team debut. Bronze medallists! Our “Ghosts and Ghouls” team, coached by Sam, also included some swimmers who had not swum a team routine before – they went home winning the gold medal!

In the 13 – 15 event, Ellen’s “Magic” team did a great swim after a last minute substitution due to injury, winning gold medals, whilst our 13 – 18 team, coached by Sarah, put on a fabulous and convincing display as fierce “Pirates” and won gold!

Our final team to swim were the 15-18 “Mario” themed routine coached by Sam. They won Gold
and were also the highest scoring team of the competition!
